having a good pick-up line in your hip pocket to use in these
situations is probably a good idea.
don't confuse the term "pick up line" with sleazy saying like "Nice
shoes, let's have sex!" The goal here is to be NON-THREATENING,

pick up lines simply engage women in innocent conversation. So asking
her opinion on something and then talking about it is always preferable

going to war. Approach them from an angle. This is less confrontational
and will subconsciously put the woman you are engaging more at ease.

reading about meeting women or studying techniques is not going to help
you get good at approaching women. If you want real success, you
actually have to go out in the real world and meet lots of women so you
can build your experience level. And the cool thing is - the more you
do it, the easier it gets!
you're worried about being rejected, just look at it as a game. The
ONLY thing you're doing is approaching women. You're not asking her
out, you're not trying to get her into bed, your only goal is to carry
on some type of conversation.

use a "time constraint" when approaching women. This is as simple as
telling her you've only got a minute to talk to her because you've got
to get back to your friends or whatever you're doing.
